Aspen Colorado Elopement Packages: Real 8-Hour Timeline
If you have 15 different tabs open right now looking for Aspen Colorado elopement packages, I feel your pain. It’s hard to look at a price list and visualize exactly what you’re getting. Is 4 hours too rushed? Is 8 hours going to feel like a marathon?
Here is the truth: A full-day elopement isn’t about filling time; it’s about having enough time to actually breathe (and eat cake)!
To prove it, I’m using a real 4×4 hiking adventure as a blueprint. We aren’t talking about stiff poses; we are talking about navigating jeep trails, dodging wildflowers, and saying vows at a high-alpine lake without looking at a watch once.

What is Included in My Aspen Elopement Packages?
When you book an Aspen Colorado elopement package, you aren’t just hiring a photographer with a fancy camera. You are hiring a planner, a trail guide, expert snack packer, and a 4×4 logistics expert.
My goal? To take the stress out of the mountains so you can focus on the important stuff (like not tripping over your dress while hiking).
All elopement packages include:
- Custom Timeline Creation: No cookie-cutter schedules here. I build a flow that matches your energy, whether that means a sunrise hike or sleeping in and catching the sunset. (Check out the real 8-hour example below!)
- Custom Ceremony Location Recommendations: I spend my free time driving dirt roads and hiking trails so you don’t have to guess. I’ll help you find those hidden gem places to elope in Aspen Colorado that aren’t packed with tour buses.
- Vendor Dream Team: Need a high-clearance Jeep? A florist who knows how to make a bouquet that won’t wilt at 12,000 feet? I’ve got the list.
- Permit Assistance: Navigating Maroon Bells reservations or National Forest rules can feel like doing taxes. I help you handle the paperwork so you don’t have to worry about a ranger crashing the party.
- Gear Vault Access: Forgot your headlamp? Need traction cleats for a snowy patch? I have a stash of gear ready for you! Plus a cute picnic set up that is yours to borrow.
My Aspen Colorado elopement packages start at $4,400 for partial-day coverage (4 hours). While I offer shorter coverage, most couples opt for the full 8-hour experience. Why? Because it allows us to document the whole story. From the bumpy jeep ride up to a secluded trailhead to the alpenglow hike down, without ever looking at a watch or thinking about your cell phone.

See a Real 8-Hour Aspen Elopement Timeline
Many couples look at an 8-hour package and ask a very valid question: “Wait, what do we actually do for that long? Just stare at each other?”
(Spoiler: No. You explore. You eat snacks. You breathe.)
When Maegann and Austin hired me, they knew they wanted something adventurous. But they didn’t know where. They were dreaming of wildflowers, jagged peaks, and total privacy. Basically, the kind of places that are hard to find on a standard Google map search.
After a ton of research and scouting, I presented them with a few options. They immediately fell in love with a secluded bright blue alpine lake located 10 miles down a rugged 4×4 dirt road.
From there, I helped them secure the right vendors (including a high-clearance Jeep rental!) and crafted a timeline that prioritized the experience over rushing. We built in plenty of buffer time so they could soak in the views instead of just driving past them. Here is the exact timeline from their Aspen elopement:
The Adventure
1:50 PM – Meet at the 4×4 Road. We met at the base of the mountain without cell service to begin the adventure. It was a little over 10 miles down a very bumpy dirt road, but the views are stunning the entire way up.
2:00 PM – The 4×4 Ascent. We hopped in the Jeeps for a bumpy, long ride deep into the backcountry. We stopped a few times just to soak in the valley views (and catch our breath at 11,000 feet!).
3:20 PM – Gear Up & Start Hiking. After parking at the high-alpine trailhead, we threw on packs and started the trek toward the lake. The hike was only 0.9 miles up and involved one river crossing.
4:05 PM – A Change of Scenery. Instead of getting ready in a parking lot, they hiked about 75% of the way up to a secluded spot near a river to change.
Getting Ready Photos & First Look in the Wild
4:10 PM – Getting Ready in the Wild. I laid down blankets so they could change out of hiking clothes and into wedding attire without getting dirt on the dress. I captured details: Vow books, rings, and the final buttoning of the jacket right there in the trees.
5:10 PM – First Look in the Forest. Once they were ready, Maegann and Austin turned around to see each other for the first time. No crowds, no noise, just them and the wildflowers.
Sunset Ceremony & Portraits
5:20 PM – The Final Ascent. We packed up the gear and hiked the final short stretch to the alpine lake.
5:50 PM – Ceremony at the Blue Alpine Lake. They arrived at a crystal-clear alpine lake for the ceremony. They exchanged handwritten vows and rings with the jagged peaks reflecting in the water.
6:05 PM – Champagne & Seclusion. After the “I do’s,” I stepped back with a long lens to give them total privacy. They popped champagne and just enjoyed the view, soaking in the fact that they were finally married.
6:15 PM – Sunset Portraits. They explored the shoreline during the best light of the day (Alpenglow is real, and it is magic).
Evening Adventure
7:00 PM – Hike Down at Dusk. We packed up and hiked back to the Jeeps as the sun dipped behind the mountains.
8:15 PM – Campfire & Picnic. They drove to a nearby dispersed camping area to set up a romantic picnic. I brought the propane fire pit, lanterns, and cozy blankets.
8:55 PM – Stargazing. They ended the night laying on blankets, watching the stars come out over the reservoir.
9:10 PM – Photography Coverage Ends. We packed up the fire and hugged goodbye after an epic 8-hour adventure.
Notice something? There was zero rushing. No running from spot to spot. Just a relaxed, intentional day that felt more like a adventurous date than a photo shoot. That is the magic of an all-day Aspen elopement package.
Best Places to Elope in Aspen
While Maegann & Austin chose a hidden alpine lake that I personally scouted for them, there are plenty of incredible spots depending on your adventure level.
- The Maroon Bells: This is the iconic spot. It is accessible and beautiful, but it requires strict reservations months in advance. Be ready the very minute reservations open, spots can be difficult to snag.
- Independence Pass: This area is perfect for sweeping views and easy access for guests if you plan to have family join. The paved road there also gives you that ‘adventurous’ vibe.
- 4×4 Trails: For couples who want to escape the crowds, renting a Jeep gives you better access to places to elope in Aspen that most tourists never see.
Pro Tip: For this Aspen Colorado elopement, we used a local rental company in town. I highly recommend high-clearance vehicles, hiking, or both if you want to reach the best private spots!

Planning Your Own Adventurous Aspen Elopement
If you are looking at Maegann and Austin’s photos and thinking, “Okay, I need this exact vibe,” let’s talk shop for a second. Planning an adventure like this takes a lot more legwork than a standard park wedding where you just show up and say “I do.” The payoff is obviously worth it, but the “behind the scenes” is where the magic (and the stress) happens.
This is exactly why my Aspen Colorado elopement packages include full planning assistance. I don’t just show up to take pretty pictures; I’m the one helping you navigate the grit and the gear so you can actually enjoy the day.

The Gear & Logistics
For this specific Aspen elopement, we were dealing with high altitude and rugged terrain. You definitely don’t want to show up in a rental sedan and hope for the best. Trust me, the mountain will win that fight every single time.
- The Ride: You need a high-clearance 4×4 vehicle. The couple rented a Jeep locally in Aspen to make sure we could handle the 10-mile dirt road without leaving a bumper behind. If you aren’t sure where to rent or what kind of clearance you need, that is something I help all my couples figure out.
- The Hike: We were hanging out at 11,000 feet. If you aren’t used to the altitude, it can be a literal gut punch. I always recommend giving yourselves at least two days in town to acclimate before we start trekking to these high-alpine lakes. Drink all the water, then drink some more.
- The “Propane” Secret: Most of Colorado is under a stage 1 fire ban during the summer, which means no traditional campfires. But who wants a mountain picnic without a cozy glow? I brought my own propane fire pit (included in my Aspen Colorado elopement package) so Maegann and Austin could have that campfire vibe without breaking any laws or, you know, accidentally starting a forest fire.

What About Permits?
One thing people often overlook is that you cannot just stand anywhere in the National Forest and start a ceremony. Every location in Aspen has different rules.
- National Forest Land: Some spots require a special use permit while others are okay for small groups as long as you follow Leave No Trace principles.
- The Maroon Bells: If you want the iconic peaks, you have to snag a specific permit months in advance. These go VERY fast, and the rules are strict.
- Pitkin County Rules: Certain areas have guest count limits and very specific parking restrictions.
When you book one of my Aspen Colorado elopement packages, I take over the permit research for you. I help you figure out which paperwork we need and how to file it so you do not have to worry about a ranger crashing your vows.

Let’s Build Your Dream Day
Planning an Aspen elopement involves a lot of moving parts like permits, backup locations, wild animals, trail conditions, and timing the light just right. You should not have to spend your entire engagement falling down a Google research rabbit hole.
As your Colorado elopement photographer, I am in the trenches with you when you book a package. I will find the secluded spots, help you book the Jeep, and build a timeline that feels like a relaxed date instead of a frantic photoshoot.
